Spring Favourites

Obviously, my favourite place I’ve been this Spring is Lisbon (spoiler: I haven’t been anywhere else). I could talk about how great this city is for a whole post but I will create a Lisbon city guide once I’ve finished here. So, for now, I’ll just say that if it’s not on your travel bucket list, it should be! I mean, look at that photo above! I do, however, sometimes miss Valencia as well so if you want to, have a look at my post about that here.

Can’t believe it took me so long, but I finally jumped on the Beauty Blender hype last month! And I don’t regret a single penny. Honestly, if you have been thinking about splurging, I would say go for it. I do still love my Real Techniques face sponge, though – so, if you’d rather try the next best thing for, like, a third of the price, then have a look in the Shop the Post section down below!

Another beauty favourite of mine this season, and especially for going into Summer, is SPF. We all know how important sun protection is – for us pale people more than others – but how annoying it can get having to reapply suncream regularly. I daily use the No7 facial SPF 30, it feels great on the skin, soaks in quickly and isn’t greasy at all. However, if you have oily skin and would prefer something else, Dermalogica’s matte SPF 30 would be a great alternative (if a bit on the pricier side).

It’s only a recent purchase so probably shouldn’t be included in my seasonal favourites straight away but I have been needing a new jacket for a while and couldn’t decide between denim or a leather or suede look biker jacket. Anyway, I found one in Zara the other day and it’s the stuff dreams are made of. I’m not sure how much it would be in the UK but in Portugal, it was €39.95, so, bargain.

Another style favourite of mine is french plaits (done by actual french people). My flatmates here are french and in return for them plaiting my hair, I get to do their make up. Win win for me. But this is just such an easy, simple, classic look which makes any outfit look like you’ve spent a lot more time on it than you actually have. And because I’m incapable of doing other people’s hair, let alone my own, I forgot you can do more than just put it in a bun.

Okay, so there are two films I’ve watched recently which I just neeeeeeed to recommend. The first one is Hidden Figures, a film based on the true story of black women working for Nasa during the 1960s. This is such a strong film, so beautiful and it will make you laugh, cry, and fist bump multiple times. The second one is Hackshaw Ridge. I don’t want to give too much away about this film but in short, the main character (played by Andrew Schofield) is a pacifist soldier during world war two and without a doubt, it deserves all the film awards ever.
